    About Eunice K.

    Twenty-five years old Korean-American cellist, Eunice, grew up in the Bay Area. She completed her undergraduate degree where she was awarded a merit scholarship to study with Natasha Brofsky. She also received her Masters degree from the New England Conservatory where she studied with Lluis Claret. At the New England Conservatory, she participated in the Borromeo String Quartet Seminar where her group was coached by the Borromeo String Quartet. She was also a member of the Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestra where she played under maestros Hugh Wolff, Xian Zhang, Earl Lee, and David Loebel. This fall, she will start pursing a Doctorate degree at Indiana University where she will be studying with cellist Eric Kim. Eunice has also attended many summer festivals such as Music@Menlo, Aspen Music Festival, Great Mountains Music Festival and School, The Banff Centre (Strings Masterclass Program), Orford Musique, and the Philadelphia International Music Festival. This summer, she is looking forward to attending the Colorado College Summer Festival as a full scholarship fellow. In addition, she has also performed in numerous of masterclasses for renown musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Lawrence Lesser, Hai-Ye Ni, Colin Carr, Raphael Wallfisch, and Paul Watkins. As for teaching, Eunice is a cello mentor for the program Teach to Learn where she connects with students in remote regions of the world via zoom and teaches cello. She was also a teaching artist for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra’s teaching artist program “Crescendo”. There, she was an assistant cello teacher for the Josiah Quincy Orchestra Program and the Boston String Academy where she taught private lessons, group lessons, and lead orchestra sectionals. This past April, Eunice received the ‘Higher Education Teaching Certificate’ from Harvard’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning after successfully completing the eight-week course. Besides music, Eunice enjoys cooking, drinking coffee, playing with her dog, Joey, and spending quality time with family.

    Working with the "Villa-Lobos" Orchestra as a section assistant and pull-out lesson teacher. As a section assistant, provided fingerings and bowings, corrected posture, and focused on classroom management and student behavior. In pull-out lessons, focused on cello posture, left/right hand technique. Participated in bi-weekly meetings with other teaching artists to discuss ways to help strengthen the cello section and orchestra as a whole.
