    About Eugene U.

Exceptional Russian-American violinist Eugene Ugorski has amassed a wealth of international experience at the highest level. He’s been hailed for possessing a technical ease and a youthful exuberance in his playing. His rich dark tone is resonant of the old Russian school of violinists and marks him out from his peers. Ugorski has performed throughout the world, working with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Hans Graf, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Andrey Boreyko, Kirill Karabits, Vasily Petrenko, Xian Zhang and Robin Ticciati. Following his performance at the 2005 Moscow Easter Festival, Gergiev immediately invited Ugorski to appear with the Rotterdam Philharmonic that season. Since that time, Ugorski has gone on to work with, amongst others, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Symphony Strasbourg Philharmonic, Moscow Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Seoul Philharmonic, and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Highlights of recent seasons include Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Vienna Kammerphilharmonie, Orchestra of Milan Giuseppe Verdi, Bournemouth Symphony, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, Galicia Symphony, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic, Columbian National Symphony, and Sao Paulo Symphony orchestras. He has been performing in venues such as the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. As a recitalist, Ugorski has appeared at major festivals across the world, including Lucerne Festival, Robeco Summer Nights in Amsterdam, Tivoli Festival in Copenhagen, Beethovenfest in Bonn, Bergen International Festival and De Doelen in Rotterdam. After an acclaimed debut at the Mecklenburg- Vorpommern Festival in Germany in 2008, he performed, together with pianist Konstantin Lifschitz, at the Enescu Festival in Romania, Seoul Arts Centre and Perth International Arts Festival in Australia. In 2010, the duo released a recital DVD for VAI of works by Bach, Brahms, Strauss, Szymanowski, Ravel and Tchaikovsky. Recent chamber music engagements also include performances at Wigmore Hall in London. Ugorski’s concerto recording of the Młynarski Violin Concertos, with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Michał Dworzynski, was released in March 2014 for Hyperion Records. It has since received rave reviews from Strad Magazine, BBC Music Magazine, and Diapason, France.
