I think music is a gift. Something that if pursued, can make for a long and rewarding journey. My love for music started in third grade with piano and soon progressed to the trumpet and finally, after high school, to guitar. I studied both classical and jazz guitar at Indiana Wesleyan University and had a brief stay in Nashville where I toured and studied songwriting. My musical experience has included jazz bands, classical voice and instrumental groups, church bands, as well as international instrumental instruction. Every musician's story is unique and I love the opportunity to help other musicians on their journey. **Lesson Details** I think that when starting out with a new teacher the first lesson should be free. The first lesson includes getting to know the student's personal interests, musical goals, and assessing their own musical experience. It is very important to build that chemistry and allow the students to feel as comfortable as possible. Students could expect to learn about the basics of music theory, rhythm, ear training, tone, melody, harmony, proper technique, improvisation and how to read both tablature and sheet music. Each lesson is tailored to the individual's needs, personality, as well as their own musical goals. I think music should be fun and engaging the student through patience and encouragement is one the my top priorities.
