I have a degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois, and earned a full scholarship because of my performance and teaching capabilities which I developed at a young age. I believe learning and performing music is one of the better and most effective ways to relax, unwind, and achieve happiness and mental health in one's life. I teach by creating a unique lesson plan for every student. Everyone learns differently, and it is my job to figure out the best way to teach each individual student. One of the best ways I have found to teach is to include lessons incorporating songs my students want to play, and not just out of a lesson book. To know music one must learn how the musical language works, so music theory is a large component of my teaching. Being fluent in the musical language opens the door to so much creativity including my students being able to write their own songs, and how to arrange songs they already like. There is also no limit to the type of music I can teach or what a student wants to learn. Whether my student is a child of 5 learning music for the first time, a high school student who is continuing his or her music education, or a someone middle aged wanting to know how to play the piano since they were young but never had the chance, I welcome everyone to my studio.
