I am currently finishing up my Masters of Music degree at DePaul University in Chicago, where I study flute performance with the principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I previously completed my Bachelor of Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City. I am originally from Buffalo, New York, and have performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on numerous occasions. My goal is to have a position in a professional symphony orchestra, in combination with my own private teaching studio.
To me, teaching is a way for me to give back and pass on everything I have been taught to more flutists and musicians. I want everyone to experience the joy of music, and the satisfaction of accomplishing their musical goals.
I have been teaching private flute/piccolo lessons for almost 10 years. In that time, I have started many beginner students, as well as help advanced students prepare for auditions, competitions and performances. I have taught lessons in public school programs, as well as private music schools. I also have experience with music theory tutoring. I have tutored undergraduate college students in theory, sight singing, and dictation. I have also prepped several high school students for the AP Music Theory exam.
I am extremely passionate about what I do with music and teaching, and hope we can work together soon!

Erin is a kind and compassionate woman as well as a terrific flutist. I am very fortunate to work with her!

I am an accomplished flutist and teacher myself - and over the years I have seen many fine teachers and players. Not many people can truly be considered experts in both, and Erin definitely demonstrates her fine artistry and intimate knowledge of flute pedagogy time and again. I have witnessed her perform in both capacities, and any student studying under her should feel at ease, knowing they will have a top notch education.

Erin makes lessons exciting and fun. She always has an answer to my questions, and brings enthusiasm and energy to each lesson. She helped me master my scales, and I have improved my sound greatly, She has helped me to love the flute!

My son has taken lessons from several different teachers and by far Erin is the best. In just a few lessons she is able to greatly improve his sound and quality. He really enjoys his lessons and she makes it fun for him, allowing him to pick songs he loves.

Erin is a kind teacher who really tailors each lesson to what I want to get better at and what I enjoy. She’s always prepared with new materials that I look forward to each week. Her experience really shines through and I couldn’t be happier with our lessons!

Erin is an experienced, knowledgeable teacher. She keeps lessons exciting and fun, and is very encouraging. She is personable, kind, and truly cares about her students. I highly recommend!

Erin is a longtime friend of mine from music school. When I worked another job over the summer, Erin took over my flute studio in my absence. Erin instilled sustained practice standards, new methods for solving problems in their pieces, and most importantly, my students reported back to me that they had a lot of FUN in her lessons. Erin maintains her joy for music and the flute in and out of the practice room, and it is especially evident in her teaching. While she is a good friend of mine, I believe that I’m not biased in saying that anyone who chooses to take lessons with her will learn valuable skills, discipline, and joys that will sustain them throughout their flute playing years and their life.
