Learn percussion from one of the Liberty University student Percussion Studio Ambassadors

I am in my third year as a music education major at Liberty University and am under the direction of some incredible mentors. I have experience playing percussion in the university wind symphony, percussion ensemble, marching band, and even indoor drumline. I also have successfuly completed my music theory and musicianship classes. With all these experiences, I have a vast array of knowlegde and lessons I have learned throughout my time here that I would love to share with my students to help them become the musician that they aspire to be. I believe that it is never too late to start learning music, and that music is so beneficial to us no matter where we are in life. I specialize in mallet instruments, both marching and concert but I am also proficient with others like timapni and snare drum. Send me a message if you're interested!

    About Erika W.

I am a junior music education major pursuing a degree at Liberty University in the undergraduate program. I am a percussion primary, and I also serve the role as a percussion studio ambassador at Liberty. Upon coming to Liberty, I have been a part of their wind symphony, percussion ensemble, Afro-Cuban ensemble, marching band, and indoor drumline. This previous semester I served as the section leader for the percussion section in wind symphony and I am currently the vibraphone section leader for indoor drumline. Through all these ensembles, I have learned to play many different percussion instruments, musical styles, and different approaches to the instruments I play. My main concert instruments are mallet instruments, especially marimba but I have experience with jazz vibraphone and xylophone rags as well. I also am proficient in timpani playing as well as concert snare drum and can even teach beginning drum set. I have many years of experience with front ensemble for marching band with just about any instrument in the pit. This is my first experience with giving private lessons, so I am new to the field. However, with the instruction that I have received and the wisdom that I have learned from my mentors, I am confident that lessons with me will be a fun and enriching experience. I am very passionate about encouraging those that I have the privilege of teaching and making myself approachable as a teacher. Each lesson I give will not only be a learning experience for my students but for myself as I evaluate what more I can do for the student to best help them achieve their goals. I look forward to connecting with you and assisting you in your music journey!
