Master of Music in Performance
About Emily S.
I have been playing/totally nerding out about the bassoon since I was twelve years old. It is a world I have been in love with since, and I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to share the same experience I've had with people of all ages.
I'm currently a freelance musician working with professional orchestras and opera and theatre companies based in Central Illinois and Eastern Michigan. My Bachelor of Music is in Bassoon Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, and I hold the Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Michigan.
I am passionate about chamber and new music. I have played in several chamber music groups, some of them being very experimental, often employing the use of interactive lighting for the hearing impaired. In 2016, I spent a month in Kyustendil, Bulgaria playing in groups coached by members of the Bulgarian Radio Symphony. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity working with other musicians to provide new experiences to all.
