Play the Piano Accurately with Top Lessons from a Master

I have been teaching piano for over 40 years, full-time for the past 19. Besides the actual repertoire, technique and theory are always included in my lessons because they are essential. Sight reading and ear training are also included in some lessons. I stress accuracy in playing and attention to details! I also teach my students HOW to practice. Slow, accurate practice is the answer. Practicing takes patience!
About Emil V.

I started to study the piano at the age of seven with Hrant Minassian in my hometown of Island Park, New York. During high school I continued my studies with Jack Chaikin , a graduate of the Juilliard School. I attended Hofstra University where I received a B.A. in Music in 1979. At Hofstra, my piano teachers were Blanche Abram and Morton Estrin. After graduating from Hofstra, I moved into Manhattan and continued my piano studies with Elena Wolkonsky at the Juilliard School. I also took a few lessons from Adam Aleksander, concert pianist, in Miami. So all together, I took lessons for 20 years with six different teachers! I started teaching piano when I was 18 years old and taught all throughout college. After enjoying a successful career in data processing for 22 years, I decided to go back to teaching piano in 2003. I thoroughly enjoy what I am doing. It's a pleasure to pass on to my students everything that my great teachers taught me.

Emil is an accomplished pianist and musician, whose love of music is an integral part of his persona. I have found that a piano lesson with Emil is a musical adventure, refining and perfecting the performance is a source of immense satisfaction. Emil selected music that I loved, providing the incentive to practice more to make it sound beautiful. He was encouraging with a great deal of compassion. During these turbulent times, we all need an activity to bring calmness and beauty into our lives. Piano lessons with Emil would be an excellent choice.

I've been studying with Emil for more than a year now. As an older adult and a total beginner with no music background, I thought I might have a hard time. But I was so surprised! Emil is patient and kind, and he seems to know when to make me reach and when to give me some slack. And I am learning about music as well as about playing the piano. My lessons have been a varying mix of playing, technique, theory, and history. The lessons are fun and are always a welcome respite from my very stressful job. I'm amazed at the progress I have made. I can play the piano!
