Learn the songs you have always wanted to play with a professional guitarist!
I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old, and I love teaching because it constantly puts me back into a beginners frame of mind. In our lessons you can expect to learn guitar fundamentals like chord shapes and scales, which we will apply to learning actual songs from the get go. I will teach you music that I know and love, while encouraging you to suggest songs that you would like to learn, from your own personal listening. For more advanced students, we will learn enough music theory to improvise and write our own guitar parts, while diving into specific styles (rock, metal, funk, folk, jazz, reggae ect.) of guitar playing based on your musical interests! I look forward to working with you!

About Elliott K.

Hi, my name is Elliott and I’m a professional guitarist, bassist, singer-songwriter and most importantly, music teacher. I've been teaching private lessons since 2013 and have found that sharing musical knowledge with others is an essential part of my creative life. I love exposing students to the music fundamentals that shaped me while continually learning about new music from my students. I teach the essential skills to play their instrument while building a repertoire that mixes classics with the favorite songs of each individual student.
I started taking guitar lessons when I was 8 years old so I could learn how to play Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and other artists my older brother showed me. We soon started a band together, and I’ve since played a variety of instruments in countless bands. I was educated at Cabrillo College and UCLA where I received degrees in Music and World Music Studies. I currently write and record all of the music for an indie-folk project called Elliott Ok, as well as a jazz-hip hop band called Loos Leaf. And I tour as the bass player for an awesome band called Joe Kaplow. You can check them out in some videos below!

Elliott is a fantastic teacher, blending foundations with cool music and helping his students develop a love and appreciation of music. We're so thankful for his teaching - both online and in person which have really established our son's love of guitar!

Our family has enjoyed having Elliott as a teacher for several years. My youngest son started guitar lessons 5 years ago when he was 7 and my oldest son started bass lessons recently at 14. Elliott also taught my husband guitar previously, as well. We have all thoroughly enjoyed Elliott's great attitude and teaching style. He wants to make the learning process enjoyable and works with the students to understand their musical interests. This lights a creative spark that inspires them to continue to be interested in music and learning.

Elliott taught, mentored, and inspired my son for over 5 years. Elliott is an excellent teacher as he has the enthusiasm and grounded wisdom to connect with his students by following their interests while making sure they cover all the necessary skills to advance. My son is now thriving in a local band which we greatly attribute to Elliott providing an amazing and invaluable foundation. Elliott's breadth and depth of knowledge and how to beautifully convey that knowledge is a unique and magical gift to the profession. Choose Elliott as a teacher or you will be missing out!
