I hold a degree in Music Education and specialize in teaching young children piano lessons. I have over ten years teaching experience and also teach voice and guitar. I believe learning music should be a fun and rewarding experience and it brings me great joy to share my passion with my students. I teach the fundamentals of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, and technique. I create a safe environment where students feel able to open up and express their emotions through music and have fun doing it! Piano students will begin right away learning how to read notes and staff. I teach students how to express themselves using their songs while also teaching the fundamentals of rhythm, melody, and music theory. Along with positive reinforcement to encourage self-esteem, I provide music lessons as a space to be creative and imaginative. Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression. Guitar students can expect to learn to start playing chords right away and to develop knowledge of how to use the guitar as both a melodic and rhythmic instrument. Whether the goal is to accompany yourself with singing or learn how to play lead lines in a rock band, guitar lessons encourage students to achieve their goals and gain confidence in playing alone and with others. With twice-yearly recitals students get a chance to showcase their talent to others!
