Hi, there! My name is Elisa Alfonso and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students learn and/or improve their flute playing and improve their general understanding of music. I also really love helping students learn to articulate their ideas on paper! I went to East Carolina University and earned my BM in Music Performance and a BA in Hispanic Studies in 2016. I strive to make lessons both a fun and productive experience for students, and will use the educational goals that the student identifies to structure custom lesson plans for that student. I strongly believe in explaining the reasoning behind activities so students understand the goals that they are working towards in our lessons, and I am passionate about helping my students succeed. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!+ Read More
I am an academic tutor for the athletics department at Florida State University. I am currently tutoring undergraduate athletes in Music Literature, World Geography, and probability statistics.
I grade and give feedback on the work of students in the undergraduate world music courses. I also teach in the event that the main professor needs a substitute.
I play gigs whenever I can, prominently as part of chamber orchestras in churches, at weddings, and I have even subbed on piccolo for the Tar River Symphony Orchestra.
Kidznotes is a non-profit organization that provides a free and accessible after-school music program for kids who would otherwise not be able to afford instruments or lessons. I was a choral teacher for one of the Kindergarten classes, and a Program Assistant for the Durham branch.+ Read More
I worked in the geography lab over the summer, reviewing 3D scans of sites, processing and cleaning data points to create GIS maps.
My daughter is very shy and was very nervous but Elisa did a great job with her. Thank you!
My son said "she is good and nice"!
Elisa is great! My son really enjoys his lessons and she is very encouraging.
My daughter gets so excited for her Lessons! She is having fun and learning.
Very welcoming and effective first class!
We have had Elisa now for 2 lessons so far. My daughter was really nervous the first day, but Elisa was enthusiastic and encouraging. The process of learning a new student in such a short amount of time and finding ways to connect can be challenging. Elisa's expertise and love of teaching really helped bring Olivia out of her shell. We saw vast improvements just in these two 60 minute sessions. The customized lesson plan and assignment was a great idea. Olivia is eager to tell others about her lessons and what she's learned with Elisa. Thanks so much for all you do. What a great instructor.+ Read More
Elisa is undoubetdly the best Flute teacher ever.. She understands all my concerns as a student and helps me overcome them. I love the flow in which my classes are going, she lets me take my time to learn every single note. And, I guess I am improving in each class, all credits to Elisa.

Very nice!! She made me feel very comfortable ! I recommend her 100%!! :))
Loved the way Elisa teaches. Being a beginner, I might have been slower in picking up but she helped me with the basics and the notes at the pace I was comfortable with. Thanks.
I could tell that Elisa has experience with teaching and is very knowledgeable about the flute and technique. She is also fun! I'm looking forward to our next lesson!
