I started taking lessons with Elia almost a year before my college auditions. During this time we worked on my repertoire for the auditions, scales, and other exercises. Elia always went above and beyond and provided many supplemental resources, scheduling a mock audition, and much more. I am so grateful to have had her guidance and support throughout the college audition process and I will continue to use all that she taught me in college and beyond. :)
Elia is an amazing teacher. I've taught guitar myself and not only has Elia taught me a great deal about clarinet, she's inspired me with her teaching style and techniques. Elia exemplifies the best reason to take one-on-one lessons, because she has a singular ability to cater exactly to the student's particular needs. She has been able to talk literally and technically about embouchure and air and fingering and also switch to more metaphorical and inspirational concepts, which often is the best way to talk about music. She has also struck the perfect balance between challenging me to push beyond my plateaus and also supporting me and boosting my morale when I feel disappointed with where I am. She's also taught me a great deal about interpreting music, playing musically (not just mechanically), and given me a deeper understanding of all music. And she's given me valuable help with understanding ensembles, auditions, repertoire, and clarinet maintenance. All of this and she has been my teacher for less than two years! In short, Elia is one of the best teachers I've ever had for any subject. She has my highest endorsement and recommendation.
I learned clarinet and saxophone from her and she is honestly the best teacher i’ve ever had! she’s so patient with me and the way she teaches really helps me learn so much more than just practicing by myself. i’ve been taking lessons for a few months now and i always look forward to them. she is super encouraging and she has helped me many times when i am nervous or having doubts. she is so sweet, and she’s my favorite teacher ever.
