Being a teacher for many years, one thing has become very clear to me: Children really need parental support and involvement for their child to get the most out of their lessons. This is especially important for younger children, but I also encourage parents of older children to sit in on all lessons. With children I primarily teach the Piano Adventures® Curriculum because I like the different age appropriate level books that they publish. I also include ear training and sight reading in their lessons. For adults, whether you are a beginning adult student with no prior music training or you are returning to the piano, I teach you the fundamentals for developing a good foundation for playing the piano. Beginners will learn music notation and musical form and be introduced to ear training techniques that excellerate the learning process. As you progress, you will learn chords, triad inversions, time signatures, rhythms, pedaling, and major and minor scales. ​ I have experience teaching special needs students and I am also happy to help seniors with finger exercises for arthritic hands, and brain stimulating exercises for those experiencing age related memory loss. ​
