My name is Edward and I have been playing music most of my life. I was involved in every form of music education that I could find, and took private lessons on guitar and piano for ten years. During this time, I learned that I improved when I performed music that I liked. I attended the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and received a B.S. in Studio Music in 1996. I then moved to San Diego, CA and started my own business teaching music. The lessons were taught at the students' homes and I incorporated the students' interests in teaching. I have also performed for many years and have written many songs that have been recorded and performed.

My teaching method is unique; I never teach the same way for everyone. The main objectives I teach include performance, reading, ear training, theory, composition and improvisation. I find that playing examples of music that you like is the best way to improve skills. I will recommend books that best suit your style and level. The main styles include (but not limited to) rock, blues, classical, pop, jazz and country. Please contact me if you have any other questions about my teaching methods.

I have a Yamaha 88 key weighted action digital piano with recording features. I also have music stands and amps for guitars. We have a smoke and pet free home. I also have a large collection of sheet music and music books available for lessons.

At 67 years old I was a little nervous picking up a new instrument. I chose Edward and am glad that I did. He is patient and listens to each request that I make. He's teaching me in a way that is comfortable and to my liking. He goes the extra mile to teach me only songs that I wish to learn along with hints that make it easier. I couldn't ask for a better instructor and would highly recommend Edward. if you choose him, you will be glad that you did.+ Read More
Edward has been giving my older son piano lessons for about a year. Now he's started teaching my younger son how to play the guitar. Both boys look forward to his lessons every week. Edward does a great job with both of them. We've been so happy with the job he does- very professional, accommodating to their needs and is a wonderful person. I would give him the highest recommendations!+ Read More
He is very patient and I feel that I may learn a lot . I will see as time goes by how it is going . If I feel that it not a match I will let you know.
Excellent experience so far, very pleased. I'm an adult starting piano again after many decades off. Would definitely recommend Edward!
Great first lesson! Excited to continue!
Great first lesson with my 12 year old son. We're excited to continue working with Edward.
Edward was very patient with my son, who is just about to be 4 years old. It's a little early to be starting lessons, but his older brother is taking lessons, so why not include the little one too. My son walked out the door and said, "that was awesome!" He even practiced at home later that night.+ Read More
Edward is really helping me fill in a lot of loose ends with my guitar playing. I am self taught and I believe it is exactly what I need. He has a thorough knowledge of music theory. This is something I need a lot of help with, being self taught. I look forward to my lessons with Edward. They are non stressful and very rewarding.
I also plan on taking piano lessons with Edward.
He is a wonderful instructor. Very patient and knowledgeable.
Edward has been great with
My daughter who is 6 years old. He is very patient with explaining the lesson and also with answering any questions that either of us have. I look forward to booking more lessons with Edward
Ed is an effective teacher that is patient and talented. He plays the bass effortlessly and has awesome taste in music! If you're a rock or metal fan and want to learn guitar or bass, you found your teacher. Thanks Ed!
Amazing Teacher! It was wonderful watching my daughters grow with Edward.
Edward really worked with my kids, taking into account what they wanted to learn, and how they wanted to learn it. This was great, because one was more focused on classical music, and the other on pop. He brought notes, and sent emails, and generally kept me very well updated on their progress. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher!+ Read More
As an adult, time to practice is a luxury. I really like that the practice pieces are music that I like and are challenging enough for me to enjoy the time spent. Also, he takes time to answer my questions thoroughly, so that I actually feel like I am learning. He is patient and isn't hard on me when I make mistakes. I have started lessons a couple of times, without success. I believe Edward, by far has the best technique and teaching style, for me to enjoy this learning experience.+ Read More
Edward is awesome!
Edward is by far the most patient teacher. He is always very positive and a great teacher, goes at your pace yet challenges you.
Edward is wonderful
He teaches with variety.
He is very patient and doesn't make me feel embarrassed for mistakes or being slow with playing. Learning to read is hard but he makes it very possible and I would recommend him to everyone and anyone he teaches all ages ! I love him !
Thank you Edward.
Exceptional piano teacher
I am an older student and I was very self conscious and nervous. Edward makes me feel welcome and is patient and extremely helpful to me in making me feel comfortable playing the piano. I have learned more from him than any other piano teacher I have ever had. It is a joy to come to my lessons and learn from Edward. He is knowledgeable and is teaching me more advanced piano. I am so glad to be working with Edward and playing piano again and enjoying it. Thank you Edward!
Nice and professional
Edward has been very professional and a very good teacher for my 7 year old son, who started little over an year ago. We never had any problems with the timings or other issues. Ourselves never been into music, it is hard to judge a music teacher, but as of now we have been very satisfied with our son's progress.
He is an excellent teacher
My daughter is so happy with him. He is professional and excellent teacher.
Experienced, Professional Musician, Excellent Teacher
Edward Is very positive and upbeat musician/teacher. As I am not a beginner but rather an intermediate student, I go to Edward for more specific insight and help with issues or problems I am trying to work on to get my playing ability up to my goals.
He is very patient, He listens to me and understands the areas of my playing that I am trying to improve. He then shows me not only what to work on, but how to work on things.
He is very friendly and easy to talk to and to learn from.
One very important aspect about Edward is that he also teaches Electric Bass and Guitar.
He is experienced in playing in a band and with other musicians and brings that knowledge through in my lessons. This is very important to me. Especiallyif you enjoy playing in a band like I do.
Edward is everything I could want in a music teacher for my 7 year old. He is PATIENT (thats a biggy), easy-going, he worked at my son's pace, created goals, he is knowledgeable/experienced, flexible, prepared for lessons so time is used wisely, he explored different modes of teaching/learning (reading music, playing music, watching music being played, listening to music be played), he asked for feedback from my son to gauge how he felt about doing certain things or how he would like to move forward, he is professional, invites communication, and makes learning fun. I am sure I am forgetting to mention things. I have no doubt whatsoever that if Edward can teach my young son to play the guitar, he is capable of teaching people at any age to play as well. Nothing but a great experience over all and highly recommended!
This teacher is awesome. He talks to my daughter like shes a little adult. He is fun and makes her comfortable. Her skills are blossoming and she is enjoying herself.
Great learning experience
I never really learned how to play the paino prior to these lessons. With Edward, I feel he uses great methods of motivating his students such as playing songs that they like, in order for them to succeed in learning how to play musical instruments. Not all teachers have enough patience to making a learning experience fun and effective
Edward is a great teacher! My son seems to enjoy learning guitar from him. Edward seems to be very dedicated in his job. My son's previous teacher was from Musika and he did not show any interest in music with his previous teacher.
Edward is FANTASTIC!!!!!! From the very first lesson with Edward our daughter cannot put the guitar down she now even loves to practice. She has so much fun with him he is very patient, keeps her motivated and excited to learn even when its difficult. I would recommend him to anyone!!!!!!!+ Read More
Edward has exceeded our expectations. He has been keeping both my daughters motivated and they are learning a lot.
Edward has been a great teacher. Tiffany is continuing to excel in her piano playing and learning. And, Michaela is beginning to excel at playing the guitar.
First of all very professional. Great teacher. Always patient. Extremely knowledgeable. Terrific attitude. Easy to work with. Always on time.
Great teacher. Worth the investment!
My husband and I, and most importantly our daughter Katie, are very pleased with Edward. He is knowledgeable, patient, positive, always on time and has already developed a good rapport with Katie. We look forward to continuing to work with Edward.
