How to play various genres of music with the saxophone

I've had the privilege of teaching private lessons since I was 17 years old. This year turning 50 I have been incredibly thankful for all the students I've been able to help prepare for school tests, All State auditions, recitals, gigs, college exam preparation, introduction to various genres and styles, and instrumental and improvisational techniques. I hope through take lessons service to reach more students and be able to help guide and train more musicians who have a dream or goal to achieve. Music is challenging and demands patience and skill and for that reason I take what I do very seriously but hope to be approachable and meet the student at whatever level they are. I have performed in contexts varying from chamber ensembles to orchestras, jazz big band, and contemporary ensembles with artists that are recognised by name and reputation world wide. Music has been constant and ever changing but I hope to stay current by using technology, apps, and listening to improve the experience. I hope to find not a great number of people but the students that respond best to my style, demeanour and approach. I am not the teacher to be afraid of though my expectations are high for myself and those I teach. I hope to be of service through this profession. My main instruments are Saxophones, Clarinet, and Flute basics. I am most experienced teaching the middle school age group although I have taught all levels. I hope to be the right teacher for your journey.

I received classical instruction on clarinet and flute in my undergraduate work at Valdosta State University where I received my bachelors degree in music performance. I returned to Atlanta to finish a masters degree in Jazz Pedagogy in 2001-2003 as a graduate assistant and was responsible for jazz combo direction as well as instruction of Advanced Improvisation under the guidance of Dr. Gordon Vernick, head of Jazz Studies.
