About Diana C.

I'm a classically trained singer who studied at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and The Ohio State, receiving a doctoral degree in vocal performance. I'm also learning to become a speech pathologist, so I am all about healthy, free singing and rehabilitation of habits to sing efficiently and beautifully.
I have been teaching professionally for over twenty years both privately and at universities like Wright State in Fairborn, Ohio, Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and now at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. In the past year, I've been learning a lot about more contemporary styles of music and I am now more comfortable teaching some pop, theatre, and jazz styles to my students.
My students would say my teaching is accessible and fun regardless of your level of study.

Diana is an excellent teacher - I learned more in one lesson than I had in many previous voice lessons with other instructors. She also followed up and sent me a recording to practice with. She’s warm, affirming, approachabke, professional and yet not at all intimidating. Very gifted in teaching!

As an accompanist for some of Diana's students at UWEC, I have had the privilege of observing her teaching, and I highly recommend her! Diana has an amazing gift for drawing the best out of her students. Her musical, technical, and scientific knowledge is extensive. She is able to tailor communicating concepts and techniques to each individual student according to their learning style. Her lessons always have an encouraging tone, giving confidence to students as she guides them in creating beautiful music. Beyond her skill both as a musician and a teacher, she is a caring mentor for her students.

Dr. Cataldi uses very helpful metaphors that make it easier to understand what she means. She is very understanding, but she still pushes her students to be their best. Definitely be ready to work hard, but if you do, you will see so much improvement in your voice.
