I have spent the last 14 years teaching both music and Spanish. I have directed secondary orchestras, taught elementary music, IB Diploma Program Spanish, middle and high school Spanish at a school for students with learning differences, and been the Executive Director for a nonprofit arts organizations. I maintain my practice of teaching private lessons because of my passion for teaching one-on-one. I have a particular knack for getting middle school-aged through adult students excited about new aspects of what they are learning. My enthusiasm for both music and language tends to translate to my students. Honestly, I'm a nerd when it comes to music and language; I love learning about the intricacies of different chord voicings or teaching the differences between gerunds and present progressive verbs. Aside from music, I love being outside. Skiing, fly-fishing, and backpacking are some of my favorite things in the world. *** Lesson Details *** I teach Spanish (beginning through advanced), guitar (beginning through advanced), beginning violin and viola, as well as music composition. I make it my serious goal to teach myself out of a job, to give students the tools that they need to go out and learn as much as they possibly can (or want to), so that when our lessons eventually come to an end, they have a solid base from which to grow. My personal style is fairly laid back. I am a very easy-going individual, but I do expect that my students practice. As long as a student is practicing and putting forth effort, I will bend over backwards to help them. *** Travel Equipment *** I have my own instruments and books. I expect students to have their own instrument and be willing to buy books as well. *** Specialties *** Spanish Classical Guitar

Very positive experience. My daughter really enjoys her lessons and looks forward to the next. She has learned a lot. Highly recommend!
He was very easy going and yet professional. I felt that he was able to cover a lot of ground in an hour and felt it was well worth the money. I liked that he not only pointed out things that could be corrected but also things I was doing right.
David is a great Guitar teacher. David has been a great guitar teacher for my teenage kid! He was patient with her but he also challenged her to work harder. My kid learned a lot in just a few months, from no experience to being able to play somewhat difficult scales and chords! I believe that Davidâs experiences both as a high school teacher and as a musician help him to be a great guitar teacher.
