I'm Dave Strumfeld (yes, that's my real last name), I've been touring the country full time with Band of Lovers for the past four years. I've performed over 700 shows in 40 states and been on countless TV and radio stations (including WYCE). I've been on Daytrotter and Sofar Sounds, and played at festivals with acts such as Willie Nelson, Rusted Root, and Kris Kristofferson.

I'm originally from NY, and after four years on the road I've decided to set some roots in Grand Rapids. I'm available to teach students of all ages and abilities who are passionate about learning music.

I have a Masters degree in music composition, 8 years of teachings experience in guitar, piano, ukulele, music theory, songwriting and arranging, and I now have 4 years of real life, on tour experience that I'd love to share!

Music has always been my passion. I started on the piano when I was 5 and I picked up the trumpet in elementary school. When I got my guitar at age 12 there was no looking back. In fact, that guitar is the same guitar that I play today and it has toured the country with me for the last four years.

My lessons are always fun and exciting and I encourage creativity in addition to technique and theory. Plus, I have a great sense of humor, so we'll be laughing a lot!
