My passion is helping people learn new skills. Nothing gets me more excited than seeing someone improve in something that I know will enhance their life. In terms of my personality and teaching style, I'm very relaxed and make learning really fun--that's part of what enables learning to be effective! In terms of my experience, I've been an educator for the last 10 years. I have also worked in education at Google, Amazon, and other well-known companies and won several awards for my educational strategies (E3 scholar, South by Southwest Scholar, Design, Art, Technology Award, Hermes Creative Award, and more). In terms of education, it's a BA from Brown University, a Master's from Carnegie Mellon, and an MBA from Wharton. So... let's get to the things I love teaching most! PIANO I've been playing piano for 25+ years. When I first started learning, I really struggled to motivate myself to practice, so I understand many of the challenges that beginners face when they take up the instrument. It's not easy! However, I've learned some strategies that make practicing fun and effective. I love motivating individuals to accomplish things they could only dream of. My particular specialty is helping people learn how to improvise and compose their own music. By being able to improvise, you'll be able to not only WOW your friends and family, but also have a greater appreciation and understanding of all the music you hear. You'll naturally also get better at music theory, and--once you're good--you'll have a feeling of satisfaction that is incredible. SPANISH Quieres hablar Español? Having learned four languages and taught many in the past, I've crafted a particular style for teaching people languages that takes into account the way that humans learn languages naturally. We'll converse and read about all your interests so that you can really enjoy it. It's really fun and you'll get to speak very quickly!
