Music has been my passion since I was 10 years old. I didn't have any real instruments at first, so, I built my own out of coffee cans, ice cream containers and of course: a rubber band shoebox guitar! It might sound funny, but, I believe these early days of trying to create music using my "homemade symphony," forced me to really get to the core of sound and expression without the pre-set curriculum of traditional music study. Early on, I learned a few fundamental concepts of music theory that would forever change how I learned, as well as how I taught music to others. I believe these concepts set a foundation that allowed me to understand music and grow much faster - including learning multiple instruments.

And yes, I eventually acquired a real guitar and went on to study music and computers at the University of California and I currently compose music for TV and film in my own studio. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, drums, theory, composition and recording production to ...

I will work with you to generate and develop your musical ideas, and to be able to notate them accurately in traditional notation for yourself and others to read. Depending on your level of experience, we will study music theory, harmony, music history, and notation. My specialty is stringed instruments, since I've played the violin since 1973, but I can coach you to write for any instrument. I use Sibelius notation program and I can coach you in using Sibelius or in the free program MuseScore.

About Gloria

Born into a musical family in 1966, I have extensive performance experience as a classical violinist and violist, and I've been composing my own music since 2000. I am very grateful to have studied with some of the finest teachers of violin, viola and chamber music, and I graduated in 1990 from th

Gloria has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher over a period of very formative years for me as a violinist. We first worked together for all 4 years of my undergraduate violin performance degree at Mills College from 2010-14, and Gloria helped me develop a lasting appreciation for listening deeply and developing focus for small details. We worked together on everything from solo Bach and Hindemith sonatas to concertos, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts. She has been a lasting influence in my life as a musician, and I will continue to return for musical and creative advice over the years even when I live far away.

I have spent the last 5 years developing a 10 step program that all of my students work through when they begin with me! During that time, I was also a part of a performing arts group where I had the opportunity to teach, perform and travel all over the world to countries like Germany, Poland, and Japan. I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels to develop their technique. My goal as an instructor is to help you to become the most prepared artist, no matter where you are. During your time with me, we will address topics like: vocal health, audition technique, rehearsal technique and etiquette, the proper way to approach new music and music styles, and more! Once you have completed the initial ten step program, the lessons are then tailored around you and the advancement of your skills so you can take your career as an artist to the next level.

About Jacqueline

Jacqueline is an artist who discovered her love for performing in her very early years. From the time that she was able to speak, she was singing; often giving private (and typically mandatory) performances for her family in the living room. As she grew older, the fireplace was replaced by a stage,

4 Rock Singers With Great Vocal Technique - And 4 Without

Do you love singing rock? Here, voice teacher Molly R. shares her recommendations for four singers to check out for how to sing rock... and four more you can learn from!   When you think about impeccable vocal technique, it’s not often that a rocker comes to mind, is it? Usually we’re praising the beautiful tone quality, high notes, and volume of an opera singer, or perhaps a jazz or musical theatre vocalist. Rock singers are usually known for their larger-than-life personaliti …
