I have been in this profession for 35 years. I have taught on many levels and for different ages including workshops for high school students and university level conservatory programs.
I believe that the theatre is an arena where we learn about who we are. Acting is being present in the moment and we learn how to live our lives more fully through this study. Each actor has his own unique voice and relationship to the material. It is my job to help each student find their own path.

I initially had Corliss as a voice over teacher in a class, then decided to further my work with her as a coach and producer to create my voiceover demos. We covered all aspects of voiceover, including the physical: posture, microphone placement, etc., which I believe really enhanced my understanding of how physicality comes across via the voice. With her classical acting background, she was able to help me improve my overall speaking technique and provided me with vocal exercises to help minimize my regionalisms.
She was diligent in reviewing competitive demos to guide me to a variety of written copy and voice/energy levels that will help my demos stand up to those with more experience. She provided valuable advice regarding selection and use of materials for the demo and beyond as well as insights on the voiceover business.
I’m very pleased with the results of the two demos and expect to continue to take advantage of her coaching services as I grow in my new career.
Corliss is a master at her craft! She makes you feel comfortable from the moment you meet her and has a genuine interest in your goals. Corliss tailored lessons to my learning style which was very encouraging for someone with my level of experience. She has a lovely personality and her enthusiasm is infectious. I would highly recommend taking lessons from Corliss!Show More
I took a five-session Beginning Voice Acting class with Corliss in a professional recording studio. The critiques she gave me after every recording I made helped me to speak more clearly, and to increase the energy I was able to put into my recorded presentations. Without the critiques of my recordings, I would not have been able to improve my speaking ability. During the class, she made sure everyone in the class was made to feel welcome, and important. When I take the next level of the Voice Acting class series, I will be looking forward her critiques of my recorded presentations.Show More
I recently took lessons with Corliss and couldn’t have been happier! From the minute I walked in the door for the first lesson, Corliss was energetic and enthusiastic. I found her instruction relative to breathing techniques, warm up exercises and copy interpretation extremely valuable in helping me to relax and “think outside of the box,” which enabled me to think more creatively while also helping to identify my own areas of strength and those requiring further development. Corliss provided honest and supportive feedback, all within a fun environment that had me looking forward to the next lesson. I am truly looking forward to taking additional lessons with Corliss!Show More
Corliss clearly knows the business and the talent and techniques required to be successful. Her teaching style is warm, supportive, engaging and encouraging. I’ve benefited immensely from the relaxation and breathing techniques she’s taught me. She’s educated me on interpreting copy in ways that I wouldn’t have had the ability to come up with on my own. Her lessons have boosted my self-confidence by providing the tools and encouragement required to pursue a career as a voice actor. Corliss has truly been an inspiration!Show More
I can't recommend Corliss highly enough as a teacher. As someone who is new to voice acting and the world of voiceovers, it's absolutely essential to find someone who can help you to tap into your creative impulses, get you out of your comfort zone, and teach you how to interpret copy in order to connect with your audience. Corliss has a very engaging, upbeat and energetic teaching style, and she gives honest feedback and concrete goals tailored to helping you improve your craft. Make no mistake, learning the art of voice acting takes work, but this process has really been fun for me, and I've enjoyed our lessons and I look forward to taking more lessons with Corliss!Show More
This was my first lesson with Corliss. I felt extremely comfortable working with her, and she has a fantastic personality. I could not have been happier with my lesson and the instruction, ideas, encouragement, and her commitment to working with me to get my voice over career started.
I am so happy I found her. She is a "pro' and she is super cool.
