Music has been in my life for as long as I can remember. When I was a young girl, I sang in the church choir and eventually began to take piano lessons with my first choir director. Like any young student, I wasn’t always the best about practicing the piano, but I knew one thing for sure; I loved music. I joined the band in middle school, and was so excited to start playing the flute! I took lessons throughout high school and LOVED being part of a group that was just a nerdy and into classical music like I was! I went on to study flute performance in college, and graduated in 2020 with my Master’s in Flute Performance. I have six years of higher education and experience and I’m ready to share it with all of my new students! I have high expectations for all of my students to come to lessons prepared, with energy and a desire to learn more about these stories of human connection. I acknowledge that all my students are different with their own set of strengths, and because of that, I individualize goals for each of my students. I want to know my student’s personal playing goals and help them achieve those goals. More importantly, I want my students to feel confident with what they can do. I feel very strongly about encouraging my students to reach higher and push themselves every week in lessons. Students have my support and encouragement and will begin to feel empowered to achieve these goals that we work on together! Not only will students begin to see progress in their playing, but they will feel confident, inspired, and ready to share their gifts with others.
