    About Chloe Y.

I completed my undergraduate in Jazz Studies and Performance (voice) at James Madison University in 2017. I was an Air Force Brat and grew up all over the world, and am now here in Texas on another adventure! I have a degree in voice, but most of my performances have me singing and playing piano. I have 5 years of professional performance, 18 years of piano playing, 6 years of accompanying, 2 years of musical theater directing, 2 years of private teaching, and 4 years worth of classical training experience to share. There are enough copy-cats out there--you are best being you! I teach you to get comfortable in your own skin and to access your body the way it was designed to enhance your built in musical instrument (even if you are playing one simultaneously!) We dig in to the basics; tone production, breath placement, posture, stage presence..., but ultimately you will come out of every lesson feeling a little more integrated with and confident in your own voice as an extension of your self. The best technique in the world will not make you a better performer or musician if you are not comfortable carrying the body you are in and owning your weirdness! We're all a little weird. The same can be said for piano playing, though there are different mechanics involved. We learn how to sing through the piano, while unpacking musical concepts like tonal harmony, style nuances, and composition techniques that make you a well-rounded musician. If you're a singer, I'm a skilled accompanist and can play by ear, so every lesson gives you the real world experience of live musical collaboration! You learn how to own your part in the experience, and if you like jazz we'll even talk about to show up prepared to a jam session. Whether or not you're a kid and your parents are making you play because it's good for you, you just picked up an instrument and want to integrate your playing with singing (heck, let's write songs, too!) you have an upcoming audition, you want to own your stage presence OR you desire to get back into an old passion, I am here for you! *Please note--schedule your lessons with at least 30 minutes in between lessons already scheduled. I cannot take back-to-back lessons, and first come first serve! :)
