Violin with Charlotte M.

Hi, my name is Charlotte, and I play and teach the violin. I’m a little biased, but violin definitely the best instrument! I have two degrees in violin performance (M.M. from the Manhattan School of Music and B.M. from Western Michigan University) and deeply believe in the power of the violin to improve your quality of life. I have taught students from age 4 to 74, and everyone in between! I have a strong background in classical music, with additional training in jazz and composition. As a Suzuki Method certified teacher, I use an “ear first” approach that gets my students listening and singing to connect with the sound before we introduce written music. I focus on teaching pieces from the standard violin repertoire, but my students are in no way limited to the classical world in their lessons. My lessons include elements of music theory and music history to help students understand the context of the music they’re learning. We also focus on building a relaxed and healthy posture from the very first lesson, so that playing violin can FEEL GOOD!
