Experienced and well rounded musician. Just graduated from New England Conservatory with Masters in Voice Performance. Performed recently as Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide and Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute.
Also trained in violin (15 years) and piano (10 years), and have experience tutoring music theory and keyboard harmony at the undergrad level.
I love playing in orchestra and chamber ensembles, and will gladly play with you to work on listening and musicianship as well as technique and fundamentals. We can also work on playing by ear, and can address all different types of repertoire!
Lets start the road towards your musical growth and enjoyment in the way YOU work best!!
While we are at it, we can work on another instrument, music theory, or even an academic subject (check out my other subjects on my page!).

Hi! I'm Catherine. I'm passionate for anything music, math, or science, and I would love to work with you to help you accomplish your academic, musical, or personal goals!
A BIT ABOUT ME:
I have a BA in Chemistry and Music (voice and violin concentrations) with academic honors, and a Masters in Music from New England Conservatory (NEC). I have lab experience in Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Astrochemistry at Rollins College, Georgia Tech and The University of Virginia.
I have taught and tutored keyboard harmony and music theory at the Undergrad level at NEC, and have tutored privately (math up to calculus, chemistry up to organic, writing).
WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU:
Having trained in violin for 15 years, piano for 10, and voice for 8, I am ready to help you expand your skills with music lessons.
I am also ready to tutor you in music theory, math, chemistry, writing, and will take further requests!! (I can even do standardized tests like the SAT or ACT).
I can't wait to help you in the way that YOU learn best, and taper our lessons to what will help YOUR GROWTH. Going through school and lessons was not a breeze for me, and I was never one of those people who just “got” things right away. For me it took a diligent learning process, so I know what it's like to learn things from scratch, work with a tutor, ask questions, and make mistakes to achieve the best I can. I want to help you do the same!!
Let's schedule a trial lesson and go from there! Look forward to meeting you.
I implemented a gas-phase into an existing three-dimensional off-latice Monte Carlo kinetics simulation using FORTRAN programming language to further illuminate the microscopic chemical kinetics occurring in dark interstellar clouds.
I worked as part of a Chemical Engineering Research Fellowship for the Center for Chemical Evolution sponsored by NASA. I modeled the polymerization of lactic acid to illuminate origins of life through a proposed ester-amide exchange mechanism.
I submitted a proposal and conducted an individual research project dealing with the targeting of human immunoregulatory transcripts by Epstein-Barr viral and human microRNA moleules.

Catherine is very responsible and extremely helpful for my music theory study. She set up additional office hours to help me understand the knowledge and pass the advanced tonal practice course. Her introduction was very clear and she delivered it with great patience. She was also very thoughtful to be flexible to fit my schedule. I really appreciate her help, and would highly recommend her.Show More
I wish I could give catherine 5000000+ stars! she worked with me through two tough years of undergrad music theory and keyboard and I was able to pass my classes on time and really improve my skills. her positivity, enthusiasm, understanding, and work ethic are unmatched. I couldn’t of made it through my first two years of college without her.Show More
Best teacher ever.
Catherine always found different ways to explain theory points that I didn’t understand. She always found time to meet with me and definitely put 100% effort even when she was having a recital or in an opera. She is honestly why I was able to pass TP 1, 2, and 3. She is a natural teacher. I am so thankful to have had her the past two years as my theory and keyboard tutor.Show More
Catherine’s amazing spirit and passion for learning has been keystone in her connections and successes with experts in the brilliantly niche discipline of music and the theory behind it. Her training is evident in her thorough and methodical approach to a variety of anxiety-boding topics such as augmented sixth-chords and proper voice leading between chords. Catherine’s positive outlook and confidence in her students’ success and progress is transparent and provided me with concrete knowledge and skills that allowed me to perform at the highest level of preparation for assessments and assignments. Without Catherine’s attitude, expertise, and personalized attention, I would not have ever been able to get through my prerequisite courses in my undergraduate training. Music Theory is stressful enough— Catherine’s approach makes it all make genuine sense.Show More
