About Carlos C.

My name is Carlos.

I am a music teacher and have taught professionally for over 20 years. I have taught at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Musicians Institute and the Cornel School of Music. Currently, I teach at the California College of Music and Los Angeles College of Music (LACM).

Privately, I teach music at my studio in Los Angeles. My studio is located in the historical Village Green. I also teach Online, using the Zoom platform, to students worldwide. I use several cameras to enhance the online music lesson experience. Online students will receive a video recording of their lesson. My classes are always fun, stress free but with a strong curriculum, organized and dynamic.

- Piano: I teach contemporary, pop and jazz piano styles. I also teach sight-reading, technique, improvisation, piano repertoire and jazz voicings.

- Music Theory: I teach both Jazz Chord-Scale based Harmony and Traditional Four Part Harmony. I also teach Ear Training and Solfege. I wrote a six level course on Ear Training-Solfege which is been used in different colleges. My music theory students range from beginners to advanced.

- Guitar/Bass: I'm a pianist but I work with my Guitar and Bass students in the areas of Jazz Improvisation, Music Theory, Ear Training, Solfege, Sight-Reading, Groove development and contemporary repertoire.

- Songwriters/Producers: Over the years I worked on giving shape to the songs and ideas of many songwriters and producers. With my songwriting and production students, I work with their melodic development, chord progressions, Hit-Song deconstruction and modeling, and how to create your own music drawing from the best contemporary resources.

I would love to work with you!
Please send me a message to talk about your musical goals and needs.

Carlos is amazing. He is very organized and punctual. My son loves that Carlos gives him clear instructions for homework and provides video of his lesson for review.
He is always looking forward to our lessons.

I have been looking for somebody to help write and notate my songs. I went to some producers and music teachers for help with my songs. I wish I would have to run into Carlos back then. Carlos is very knowledgeable about songwriting and just music in general. He takes his time to always listen to my ideas and then helps me organize my melodies and chords. He even helps me write my songs down. I am glad I am working with him and would like to recommend Carlos to any songwriter.

We are so happy with the lessons. Our son (age 12) has rapidly advanced in his playing, and Carlos has the perfect mix of being gentle but firm in his expectations.

I found Carlos extremely easy to work with and he definitely knows what he's doing! This is my first voice lesson ever and I was very intimidated before starting. Carlos made me feel very comfortable and wow, did I ever learn a lot in this first lesson. I used to play the piano when I was quite young but have lost much of my ability. Carlos helped me with the keyboard in addition to teaching me correct breathing and testing my voice range. I look forward to my lesson next week!

I have known Carlos professionally for over 30 years either as the publisher of his music instructional books that are sold worldwide or as a fellow music instructor at Cornel School of Contemporary Music. I have seen many times over how students have developed their overall musicianship through Carlos’s teaching methods and I would highly recommend him if you are interested in moving forward with your musical goals.

I have known Professor Carlos Campos for more than few years since he was teaching at Shepherd University and I was doing my Masters in Film Scoring. Professor Campos is an excellent musician and educator who has always been willing to share his knowledge of musicianship, composition, ear training, jazz harmony, and piano.
I hope that you give Professor Campos an opportunity to share his knowledge with you. He really cares about his students.

Carlos has been an excellent mentor, instructor in my music journey so far. He has guided me in not only academic areas, but also career and business areas.

I still remember his Ear Training lessons from 8 years ago, which was how I met him. He opened up my perception to music in ways I didn't know existed. To this day I continue to learn from him and I will forever be grateful to him.

He is one of the kindest people I have met and genuinely cares for his students growth.

I was very impressed, so much that I started taking piano lessons from him. Carlos has all this curriculum and books and media that he has developed. Very good stuff! I still use his book on Open Jazz Voicings. I haven't even finished a third of the book and still find new uses every day when I play. I also found useful the way Carlos had me visualize intervals on the keyboard in order to play in all different keys. He also helped me with my ears and reading music.

He was very helpful with so much patience.
Also he has his own material which he’d been teaching 20 years experience in Berklee, NEC, MI, CSCM,, etc.
So I could trust him and he had very deep thought and clear about what he teach.
We had some conversations while the private lesson was going on... lots of story that he told me was amazing and unbelievable. Not only The theory and the knowledge that you would get from him, also whole lot of different variety of infusions he will provide and it will help you improve as a musicIan and as an artist.
Thank you Carlos!!
