I am a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with a dual-degree in Music Theory & Composition and Philosophy from Butler University in Indianapolis. I have 10 years of teaching experience and over 13 years of performance experience. I am classically trained, but have since branched out to genres such as Jazz, Bluegrass, Rock, Electronic Music, and anything in between.
*** Lesson Details ***
I will design lessons around your interests, goals, and needs. These can include full pieces, exercises, scales and arpeggios, worksheets, compositions, or improvisations (depending on your area of study.)
*** Specialties ***
I studied Suzuki violin, but later switched to a traditional style. I have over 15 years of experience in classical music (violin, guitar, piano) and have since taken up additional instruments and branched out to explore other genres: jazz, bluegrass, folk, rock, pop, etc.
I place a strong emphasis on Music Theory, Scales, and Rhythmic accuracy, since these are the building blocks of all music and can be applied across genres.
Most importantly, I make sure that my students have FUN in their lessons. I want to make sure my students look forward to their lessons each week--hopefully you will even be excited to practice.
I have taught private lessons in violin, guitar, piano, and banjo since 2006.
· Violin · In home Brandon's help had been so critical getting my daughter prepped for the school Orchestra and she never played Violin before Grade 7! Unbelievable but that's how Brandon made it possible. He kept his student engaged, interested, and motivated. He himself is an awesome musician also. Would love to have him as our kid's teacher anytime in the future for higher classes/grades.
· Violin · In home He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and punctual. His teaching skill is great and can enthuse the student with his passion for music. My daughter felt really excited to have him as her teacher. Looking forward to a great summer sessions of violin!
· Violin · In home Brandon has give the perfect complement for my 9 yo daughter in-school lessons. She started in the school orchestra this year and she was among the least knowledgable students; right after she started with Brandon, her performance improved significantly. Now she's preparing for her first solo performance and Brandon has been a key in this process.
· Guitar · In home Brandon knew exactly hot to kickstart my 13 yo daughter in guitar. It was her first lesson ever and after a few weeks she made a huge progress. Now she plays guitar much better than me and it's been just a few months so far. This is part talent, but I have no doubt this is also part orientation. Brandon did a great job in motivation with her and figured out the best way to engage her in her learning.
