    About Private F.

Even though my name is Brandon, I have a nickname, "Private", which is what everyone calls me. It comes from when I was serving in the Army National Guard but was actually a Sergeant. I got the nickname in college, when I was a Private! I am happy to tell you more about that...! I began dancing in college because it was something I really enjoyed and just happened to be pretty good at. Being a 'guy', doors opened up pretty quickly for me because I was strong and attentive to partnering as well as had decent 'hops' - meaning I could jump pretty big! I was always an athlete as I did baseball, diving, and football, among other things, in high school. So, being physical was nothing new to me....but being physical with an artistic goal - now that was intriguing. My life changed when I was offered a contract with ODC Dance, after taking a week-long workshop/audition in San Francisco while I was on vacation! I had an extraordinary opportunity to take a professional dance job - a 40 week contract with health insurance and at least 12 of those weeks touring! I couldn't turn it down. And so began a career I hadn't anticipated. I have to say, I wasn't the most technically advanced dancer at that time. But, what I had was conviction and an inherent talent; along with a confidence that I would make things work even if I didn't know what I was doing. That attitude was what helped me to excel... to get better.... to train...to listen to my teachers and contemporaries that had helpful advice...and eventually become the lead Dancer Artist that I am today. You have to believe in yourself no matter what. After that, the sky is the limit! My biggest strength lies with my understanding of both the male and female journey to becoming a professional dancer artist. They are different experiences, and I have compassion as well as professional advice to both. I do feel there is no gender difference when it comes to being a successful artist - only a navigation of how to become so. I can help with that. My resume shows that I have contributed to the success of many wonderful artists, both male and female. I hope I can be of service to you!
