    About Beth M.

Hi! I'm a professional musician, songwriter, teacher and producer in Atlanta, GA. I have been playing piano as long as I can remember. I love keyboards, organ and rhodes too. I write and perform with a jazz group called The Moore McColl Jazz Society. We put out records consistently and have most recently released a Christmas Album. I co-wrote the title track- One Way Holiday about trying really hard to get home for the holidays! I have a passion for songwriting and bringing creative ideas to fruition. In my teaching, I really focus on creating standards and goals for the student. With online lessons especially it's important to stay consistent, create expectations and develop good habits. Now I'm not that strict!! But, I really get a kick out of watching students grow and seeing the smile on their faces when they learn a new skill. It's the best! The one thing I've learned from teaching is a student won't practice if they're not inspired and a student is not inspired if they don't feel themselves improving! It's a constant balancing act and the goal always being to play to bring joy and excitement! I have a degree from Berklee College of Music. I also spent 12 years living in NYC playing in bands, performing, writing and teaching. I have written and performed in every type of band I can think of and I feel this has brought me a thorough understanding of all types of music. I try to combine both Traditional/classical note-reading approaches as well as modern ear training approaches to lessons. This is to me the best formula to getting a well-rounded education in my opinion and making the most progress the fastest. But with all my students, we discuss goals first and usually lean more towards one than the other after a period of time. The most important thing is to make progress and feel great about it at the same time!
