    School For Strings New York

"The School for Strings certifies that Mr. Benjamin Wu has successfully completed the two-year Teacher-Training Seminar. This Seminar, a training program in violin teaching in general and in the Suzuki Approach in particular, includes weekly class of two hours, in which the students make an intensive study of the music included in the Suzuki Violin School. Each piece of music is discussed in detail, in terms of its performance and teaching problems, and the students perform each of the pieces in class. The Seminar meetings also serve as discussion forums, in technique of playing the violin, to application of the Suzuki philosophy, to ways of dealing most effectively with both children and parents so as to make the children's music study both pleasurable and profitable. Questions of specific violin technique, both elementary and advanced, are discussed, and suggestions are made for supplementary technique and repertoire materials which can be introduced concurrently with the Suzuki materials. In each year of the Seminar, members of the class are asked to spend at least two hours a week observing lessons and classes in the School. In the second year of the Seminar, members of the class embark on an apprenticeship program in which each one is asked to teach a limited number of individual students, under the supervision of the Director of the Program. Seminar members are also asked to teach group classes at regular intervals under supervision. It gives us great pleasure to certify Mr. Wu's successful completion of this two-year Seminar and Apprenticeship Program, and to recommend him as a qualified instructor of violin in the Suzuki Approach." - Alexander Yudkovsky, Executive Director The School for Strings
