I customize our sessions to realize your musical aims. We take a creative approach and immediately begin - wherever you are - to make music that feels and sounds good. Proper technique, ear training (the ability to recognize and play what you hear), composition and improvisation are all introduced. My individualized approach allows you to explore, develop, and cultivate your unique artistic voice. Instead of traditional piano method materials, I like to work with a blank manuscript book that we fill with arrangements of pieces (in any style) that you choose, original works, and exercises - all customized to your ability. With a background in jazz, classical, rock and other modern styles, my approach to teaching music (piano, composition, improvisation) is customized for the student. I like to cover all elements of music creation and performance, improvisation, as well as proper technique on the keyboard. Realizing finished, performable works that express your unique voice is an important part of my approach. I enjoy working with people of any age and ability level.
