    About Ben R.

    Ben R., DMA, an accomplished musician devoted to new classical music and old jazz, Ben R. is the e-flat clarinet soloist with the US Naval Academy Band; principal clarinetist with the International Chamber Orchestra; and bass/e-flat clarinetist with the Occasional Symphony Orchestra. He is a Lecturer at The Catholic University of America and adjunct clarinet professor at Anne Arundel Community College. He has been a featured soloist at five International Clarinet Association ClarFests in the U.S. and Europe, and is an active freelance musician, performing in the Washington, DC region. In addition to leading a Jazz Band, Ben is a performing artist for Buffet Group USA, and Canyes Xilema reeds. He has recorded for Mapleshade, Naxos, Big Kahuna, and AmCam record labels, and composed and performed new music to 1920's era silent films featuring actors Charley Chase and Harry Langdon, released on DVD box sets by All Day Entertainment. Ben earned a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Oklahoma, a master of music degree from Louisiana State University, and a doctorate degree from The Catholic University of America. His teachers include Loris Wiles, David Etheridge, Steve Girko, Steve Cohen, Ignatius Gennusa, Ben Armato, and Paul Cigan.
