About Barbara M.
Barbara Mora
After taking private piano, guitar and voice lessons in her youth and again during her highschool years, she found a lot of interest in music composition, classical and popular voice singing and classical, popular and jazz piano. She then decided she wanted to study music as her long term career.
She began her music career in 2005 at “Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza”, a Classical Music and Dance Conservatory in Monterrey, Mexico. She studied classical piano and voice for three years in an intensive program. She participated in choir, voice and piano performances and recorded some of her original music compositions at her grandfather’s studio as well. After that, she decided she wanted to study abroad to continue studying music in the US. She transferred to The University of Texas at San Antonio where she studied piano, voice, organ and harpsichord graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree in 2012.
After her graduation she continued studying organ, harpsichord and piano with Dr. David Heller.
She has taught piano for more than thirteen years privately and at several music academies in Mexico, San Antonio and Denver. She is currently offering in-home lessons in Denver, Colorado.
She was nominated by Steinway Piano Gallery of San Antonio to be a recipient of the 2018 Steinway Top TeacherAward. This award is presented to teachers across the US and Canada who have exemplified excellence in their commitment to teaching and inspiring young people in the study of piano performance.
She has also organized many music recitals which she has video recorded for her students. She particularly enjoys teaching the beginners from any age.
Her goal as a teacher is to inspire love for music and piano playing in her students. She wants her students to have a solid foundation so they can move to more advance levels. She wants to make sure her students enjoy the lessons and find joy in playing different piano repertoire and piano books.
