    About Art P.

Hey! I've been playing guitar and performing for about 20 years. I love rock/pop/metal/punk/country so that's what I focus on when I teach. I've toured around the US and Canada, my bands have performed at The Vans Warped Tour, Journey's Backyard BBQ, NAMM, and South By Southwest. I have performed with the following: Escape The Fate, The Used, Falling in Reverse, Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Karmin, Eve6, Switchfoot, Milo Greene, Family of the Year, Toshi Yanagi (Jimmy Kimmel Band), Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac), Lindsey Pavao (The Voice on NBC). I am mostly self taught but did take formal lessons with Tommy Armstrong-Leavitt at Skips music in Sacramento. I also went to school and received my A.A. in Music from American River College. Currently I play guitar with my band Hero's Last Mission. I'm endorsed by Presonus Audio, CAD Audio, IK Multimedia and Tronical Tuners. *** Lesson Details *** My teaching style is very laid back. Music should be fun! I like to find out what my students want to get out of their instrument. Weather it's being able to play along with what they hear on the radio or becoming the next Slash. My job is to set you on the right path and make goals to get you to where you want to be! The fundamentals and basics are very important but it's also good to just be able to jam! I try and make lessons a good mixture of the two so you never get bored with playing scales and theory. Let the fun begin! *** Studio Equipment *** Dedicated lesson room/Studio. Recording equipment. Instruments. I have a guitar, amps, recording console. Seating for parents in living room. I have 3 dogs but they will be in a different room. *** Travel Equipment *** I have bring my acoustic guitar, laptop, music stand & materials for the lesson. Students must have guitar to practice and a metronome. *** Specialties *** Rock/Pop Guitar Rock/Pop Songwriting Rock/Pop/Acoustic Recording

    Experience

    Guitar Instructor

    Jan, 2008 - Jan, 2010

    M.I.N.K.H.

I donated my time and taught guitar group classes (or 6 or less) to troubled or underprivileged youth every Saturday for 2 years. The Program called M.I.N.K.H. or Musical Instruments N' Kids Hands was very special. I would teach to kids that never had a chance to pick up an instrument before. The main goal was to get the students familiar with the instrument they chose, but we also discussed making goals, how to practice, and building confidence. They kids would come in shy and barley said a word after 6 weeks they knew how to play a song, smiled and talked with all of us instructors and they held their heads a little bit higher every week. Such an amazing transformation to see!
