Hello, I'm Ms. April.
I have a Master's Degree in Music Education and have been an educator for 10 years, teaching General Music and choir. When I began teaching private piano and voice, my classroom teaching experience was definitely an asset; I can read people quite well, break down complex tasks into manageable parts, explain concepts in multiple ways, use age-appropriate content and pacing, support a student's preferred learning mode, and much more.
I have worked with a variety of learners, whose strengths and challenges require flexibility and diverse strategies, which has a great deal to do with why I don't teach everyone the same way. Some individuals excel in a typical lesson setting and structure, while others may not quite "fit the mold" and require a different approach. I am comfortable with this, and adapt certain lesson elements in order to give a student the best chance to experience success.
My style has been described as patient, encouraging, and positive.
