Composition, the art of being a composer, can vary from songs of all styles, to more classical or jazz music writing, to even learning how to write music for for the movies, TV and commercials. My approach to teaching composition will be based upon what style music the student is interested in. I will shape the lessons based upon the knowledge the student has from beginner to advanced. It is important to explore the work of the great composers the student will find to be inspiring. We can sample the the work of the students by using music writing software. I will also help guide the students to learn how to find opportunities for composers. . My formal background in composition is as follows: I am a professional musician, producer, composer, and author for over 50 years. .My first two years of college, I attended the prestigious Juilliard School of Music studying composition. I worked as an arranger and composer for many singers and recording sessions. One of my compositions was performed at Carnegie Recital Hall in NYC, As a song writer, I have music on the various digital platforms, In closing, I truly have fun and enjoy the creativity of teaching and seeing my students succeed as they pursue their goals and dreams.
