I am an excellent and very experienced musician and vocal/piano coach. I focus on technical skills, creative expression, theory, a beautiful sound, body mechanics and enhancing the joy and appreciation of Music. I have a Master of Arts degree in Music/Vocal Performance and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum from Sonoma State University. I teach classical, jazz, pop, musical theatre, sacred and folk music. I vary my lessons according to the students interests, goals and learning styles. I am very happy to be engaged in teaching, and to pass along my love for music. *** Lesson Details *** In my lessons, I review the student's objectives and build my lesson plans around these goals. I make learning fun. I emphasize dedication and committment to the lessons, practicing and performing. I teach the fundamentals of music with a practical and easy-to- learn approach. I teach technique, expression, creativity, varied musical repertoire that is based on the student's preferences. I coach a style of singing called bel canto. This style stresses ease, purity, evenness of tone production, expansion of range while keeping an agile and precise vocal technique. This can be applied to any genre of music. In my piano lessons, I teach Suzuki, Faber and Keith Snell methods. These methods focus on dexterity, proper fingering, positioning and fluidity. I also emphasize making beautiful sounds with proper body mechanics. I start the lessons with vocal and piano warm-up exercises such as scales and drills. Stage two of the lesson I work on breath support and physical warm ups. Stage three moves into singing repertoire that the students and I choose and feel drawn to. I make these methods fun and easy to learn. After 3-6 months you will be able to read music, sing the songs you would like to learn, and perform in a recital or personal venue. *** Studio Equipment *** The above stated materials according to instructors recommendations. *** Travel Equipment *** The student is expected to provide a piano and/or keyboard and singing or playing material. *** Specialties *** Bastien, Faber and Faber, Suzuki, Snell, Solfeggio and Kodaly methods Vocal performance, technique, expression, body mechanics, projection of sound. I work best with dedicated students.

Anne Marie has connected so well with my teen daughter. She’s helped her develop her style and build a musical repertoire. Anne Marie is very supportive, encouraging and positive. She’s provided so many tips and even online has managed to keep my daughter engaged and excited.

Very knowledgeable, but could have focused more on what I wanted to learn.

Instructor was very welcoming, encouraging, and provided numerous tips on the first lesson. She even let me play part of a song that I love singing to, and gave helpful corrections to improve, using the tips and techniques she just taught in the very same lesson.
