Piano with Angela L.

Hi, I'm Angela. I graduated with my Master of Music in piano performance from USC and my Bachelor of Arts in piano performance from UCLA. During my time in school, I was involved in the LA community as a teacher through the Music Partnership Program and hired as an accompanist at USC. In this capacity, I taught piano and violin lessons to students from elementary to high school. I was assigned beginning level to collegiate students across all grades. Through teaching classical piano, I start by teaching the basics of note and sight reading, counting, musicality, etc. and seeing the student grow as a musician and performer. As a teacher, being flexible is the most important. By talking of methods, not all students can learn by the same book, and I incorporate many methods of teaching tailored for each student. During lessons, I emphasize skills starting correct note reading, dynamics, developing proper technique and the students ability to think for themselves. For the students growth, I supplement materials tailored to the student's level. I also teach intermediate and advanced students, addressing their technical issues, and teaching the standard repertoire. The student may also request repertoire that they wish to learn.
