Hello! I've been teaching music full-time for the past 10 years. I graduated music school in 2008, holding a Bachelors in music from Columbia College Chicago, a thriving arts school in the heart of downtown Chicago. There, I primarily concentrated on music composition and guitar, while also studying piano and drums. My parents were musicians and school teachers, so music teaching is very much in my blood. I've been playing and writing songs in bands since I was 12 years old. I recorded 3 original albums in high school, which is a very unique thing. I played shows everywhere in Chicago through college and upon graduating started a successful band called Minor Characters. We worked on albums with Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Superchunk, Bob Mould) at April Base Studios (Bon Iver), toured extensively, and was featured at South By Southwest Music Festival in 2012 and 2013. This past year I spent recording a number of online guitar courses that are available through my business Make Some Noise, Inc.
I did all of this while maintaining a full schedule of music students, where I put on recitals at cool music venues and had kids and adults play together in duos, trios, or bands. I'd love to do the same thing here in Los Angeles!
Teach private and group music lessons to 35 kids and adults per week, full time. I teach guitar, piano, drums, voice, and music theory. I arrange my own schedule and develop core curriculum for the entire student body. I host seasonal recitals where I encourage the students to play together and write their own material. I designed and filmed four online guitar courses, including a 12-week, intensive introduction to guitar program.+ Read More
Taught private music lessons in Chicago through Reverb.com’s lesson platform. I worked with the staff at Reverb often and was interviewing for the Director of Music Lessons, but Reverb decided to close down the platform.
Worked one on one with students with special needs in the special education department of a large, suburban Chicago high school. Assisted teachers and administrators in lesson planning and curriculum, and substitute teaching classes when needed.

Very good teacher, knowledgeable, kind and patient

Andrew is wonderful! He taught my son piano in our home for several years. Andrew taught all aspects of music, including theory, and gave my son a better base to grow. Besides being a talented artist and great teacher, he's simply a wonderful person.+ Read More
Andrew is an extremely talented teacher. He's very patient and he doesn't just hear my daughter, he listens. Not only to what she plays but to what she says; I think this is why she has made such tremendous progress. I was not sure how the online lessons would work but they have not skipped a beat and if anything the online sessions are more productive. If you want a talented instructor that actually cares and will take you to the next level, look no further than Andrew!+ Read More
Andrew is the best guitar, songwriting, and music theory teacher I have ever had the chance to work with. He is so knowledgeable that, in the same lesson, he could help you figure out that intricate guitar part you are trying to learn -on the spot- while also providing very insightful explanations for how and why a song is working. His classical music training helps him understand and explain music at a very deep level while still being very easy to understand and intuitive.
Andrew is a very gifted musician who masters several instruments and he is an incredibly accomplished songwriter. You have to check out his awesome music to see what I mean. I have personally used Andrew to improve my guitar, bass and piano playing while also asking him to teach me songwriting and music theory. Most of the time, a lesson would involve all of that together!
I have been lucky enough to count him as my teacher/mentor for several years in Chicago and he has helped me grow musically tremendously. I am now working with him online because musicians of his quality are not easy to come by anywhere. Los Angeles is lucky to have attracted such an incredibly talented artist. Andrew is not only the best teacher to take your music to the next level, he is also a wonderful human being!
Working with Andrew has been an amazing experience. He teaches my son guitar, bass, a little piano, music theory... really, he can teach anything you request. Their time together hasn't skipped a beat since we switched from in-home to online lessons. Andrew can pretty much do anything and play any song my son requests to learn. He keeps him on track to progress through lessons and also finds time to just jam with him for fun. Andrew is the best!+ Read More
