Master of Music, Historical Performance Baroque Cello

    Discover the key fundamentals of playing the Cello.

    Experienced teacher ready to tailor lessons to your learning goals and musical interests. You will learn to sing through your instrument, develop proper playing technique and musicianship via real music starting in the first lesson. We will explore a variety of genres including folk, medieval, ancient, classical, and contemporary music and you will also learn to improvise and compose. We will discuss the social and historical context of the music we cover, and you will learn basic music theory. All ages and levels are welcome, from absolute beginners to advanced.

    About Andrew K.

    Andrew Koutroubas, is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in baroque and modern cello. He is an active performer, teacher and scholar interested in music spanning antiquity to contemporary, as well as traditional music of different epochs and cultures. At the forefront of Andrew's musical activities is the belief that offering carefully crafted musical experiences can be a powerful force for community building, incredibly enriching for the individual, and a stimulant for creative thinking and curiosity. As a cellist, Andrew has performed throughout the United States and in Germany, appearing in major venues such as Zilke Hall in Houston, Sanders Theater in Cambridge, MIT's Kresge auditorium, M. Steinert Recital hall in Boston and Mechanic's hall in Worcester. Andrew also enjoys performing in more intimate settings and has been heard playing in backwoods venues like the Monadnock Inn in Jaffery, NH, Riverhouse café in Greenfield, NH or the Town Hall Theater in Wilton. Andrew has performed with acclaimed early music ensembles Ars Lyrica Houston, the Boston Camerata, the Harvard Baroque Orchestra, and modern ensembles the Horszowski Trio, and Dramatic Voices Berlin in Germany. An educator, Andrew has extensive experience teaching music to students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. With ten years of experience teaching private cello lessons. Andrew is proud to have students accepted into music programs at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ithica College in New York and into New Hampshire's All-State programs.
