- Teaches students:
- and Ages 5+
- Teaching since:
Since 2008 I've been studying and playing music in many different settings. I have performance experience with both classical ensembles and contemporary rock bands. Through these experiences I've learned a lot about writing music, playing music, and ensemble management all within a wide range of musical styles.
Since 2013 I have been teaching and training in various settings. In 2016 I moved out here to the Bay Area and have been teaching music full time. Since I moved my main focus has been to further develop my own personal ability and curriculum for my students. Currently I teach as an instructor at MTS Studios in Sunnyvale CA on a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass guitar, piano and ukulele.
I am looking forward to helping you further your musical goals and aspirations. Feel free to send a question if you want to ask about anything before starting up.
Coming in as a complete beginner in guitar I was a little nervous about finding a good teacher. I have really enjoyed my lessons with Andrew! He is extremely knowledgeable, his lessons are a good balance of theory and practice and well prepared. He is also incredibly patient when I have to start the same measure 20 times before getting it right or asking the same questions over again. I highly recommend him to anyone!+ Read More

My 8 year old son just had his first drums lesson with Andrew and can't wait for his next drums lesson. Andrew is a great teacher. He's very methodical and teaches theory right from the beginning. He draws musical notes and beats nicely on the board and plays along with the student in his ukulele. My six year old son started reading music the first day.
I liked his his studio - it is lovely with so many instruments! Looks like he teaches several instruments.
Andrew is a really good teacher, my son enjoyed his drum class, we will continue to take lessons here
Andrew has been an amazing piano instructor for my 6 year old son. My son is so comfortable that he acts a bit silly at times and have to remind him that this is a lesson. He is familiar with other instruments too which makes it really fun for kids. Currently he plays the ukulele while my son plays the piano and he absolutely loves it. Outside of his obvious skill, he is probably one of the most patient instructor I know. Maybe that's why my son loves him so much :) Definitely recommend him if you want your child to start enjoying music.+ Read More
He was the best!
Andrew is always kind and patient with my two sons, ages 6 and 8, who have taken lessons for guitar, piano, and drums with him. He is also very professional- arrives on time, no scheduling issues, flexible to meet our scheduling needs, and responds very quickly to email/ texts. He is very knowledgeable and provides a good foundation in music theory so that students learn to read music, rather than relying on memorization to learn songs.+ Read More
Learned a lot my in first lesson. Andrew is very informative and lets you take the wheel on the first day. He's VERY patient and soft spoken but very direct with his instructions during the lesson. I'm 31 and didn't think it was possible for me to even understand the basics of reading music but Andrew really explains things in a way where it's easy to comprehend. I really look forward to being under his care as I learn.+ Read More
Learned a lot in 30 minutes!! Portrayed confidence as well as friendliness. I'm very excited for my next lesson
Andrew vey good teacher my daughter get 3 sessions she can play a song .And happy with a facility.
Before taking lessons, I had picked up some chords and strumming patterns from the Internet. Over the 10 lessons with Andrew, I learned music theory fundamentals, how to practice the guitar on my own, how to pick out chords from any song, and even got to participate in group lessons. Even though I had to stop taking lessons because work got too busy, I learned a lot and now have a better idea how to improve my guitar skills.+ Read More
Andrew is a great teacher. He's super nice, very patient, and knows how to work with a complete beginner like me. I started taking piano lessons a couple months ago and I already feel like I've learned a lot.
Very good Teacher. Understands the student very well and teaches accordingly.
Granted I have only taken a couple of sessions but so far, Andrew has been flexible, kind, and professional. I like that he introduces you to theory along with teaching the basics. Overall I think he cares about doing a good job and seems invested in your learning!+ Read More
Andrew is such a great teacher and very patient! We appreciate how he is able to tailor each lesson comfortably to our needs without overwhelming the experience to playing instruments for the first time! Keep up the great work!
It was my first time, so the jury is still out, but Andrew is a fantastic teacher. He teaches fundamentals instead of jumping right into songs. Able to adapt teaching to various age ranges. We are excited to continue.
I have only taken a few lessons so far, but here is why I give a 5 star rating. Andrew is very professional, patient and friendly. He has adapted his teaching to my learning style so that the lessons are very relaxing. And he is including music theory so that the instrument actually makes sense. Thank you!+ Read More
