Opera Voice with Amberly W.

Hi there - Amberly here! I was born into a musical family in Cincinnati, OH but Nashville has been my home since 2014. I grew up listening to and singing gospel music, in addition to pop, soul, and R&B ranging from the 1970s to contemporary. Some of my earliest musical memories involve me sitting on the front pew at church on weeknights learning and singing old hymns and new praise and worship songs. My dad (Minister of Music), mom (Youth choir director) and grandmother (children and senior choir director) would teach me and my siblings the harmonies before rehearsals so that we could help demonstrate songs to the choirs. Since finishing grad school in 2017, I have spent my time teaching voice lessons from my apartment and at a music school in Nashville during the week. I have also been the regular lead vocalist for 1 original funk/blues project, and 2 private events acts for an entertainment company since 2017. If I'm not teaching, performing with these bands in town or on the road is usually how I spend my weekends. I also participate in a monthly "reading session" at the Musician's Union as a featured vocalist. The rotating roster of instrumentalists includes some of Nashville's best studio and live players. Aside from music I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy books, watching sci-fi and fantasy TV/movies(the good, the bad and the ugly) writing songs, walking in parks, and traveling with my husband in my down time! I also started a healthy living journey in 2018 and have lost 40 lbs. to-date, so hitting the gym, along with Pilates, and yoga have become some of my favorite fitness pastimes.
