I have played with the Waco Symphony orchestra and toured with several groups to national music conventions. I am experienced teaching students who make all-state bands and win regional competitions. Expect a personalized curriculum covering fundamentals, short studies, and solo repertoire.

About Allison A.

I have taught private music lessons for many years, from beginner to advanced and a wide range of ages. I have a music education degree from Baylor University and a Masters from Boston University. I am currently working on my doctorate at UT Austin. I have also been playing piano since the age of 5. I graduated summa cum laude from Baylor and BU and especially enjoyed music theory classes while there.

In addition to music, I have a successful photography business. I specialize in portrait photography and shoot in full manual mode on a Canon, usually in natural lighting (no flash). I can instruct on photo composition, shooting in manual mode (including focus, aperture, ISO, and shutter speed), and post-processing.

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
