I am a pianist and teacher, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I have a bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a masters degree from Miami University, both in piano performance. I am currently working towards a masters degree at the University of Denver in musicology. I am passionate about teaching with a well-rounded musical curriculum, which includes music theory and music history in the study of piano.
I love working with kids, including new beginners, and helping them have a positive and fun experience with learning music. I also enjoy working with adult students, which I've done through private lessons and college-level group classes.
I work at this non-profit organization teaching young children to play the piano.
I teach private piano lessons.
I taught a studio of private piano students of all ages.
I taught group piano classes to both music majors and non-music majors.

I am an adult beginner and am really enjoying the lessons with Alison who provides encouragement and very clearly knows exactly what she is talking about. In addition, she makes the sessions very enjoyable and instructive.
Our first lessons went great! She definitely knows what she doing. Very prepared!
Professional, knowledgeable and nice! My daughter loves her.
I had a great lesson with Alison, excited to continue with her!
Alison is great! I find that she creates a very supportive learning experience, as she is very patient, compassionate, and encouraging in her approach to teaching.
Alison plays piano beautifully, but she is also a wonderful teacher, and I couldn’t recommend her enough. Alison does such a great job of optimizing our weekly 30 minute lessons. She stays on track, utilizing various teaching and playing techniques to appropriately challenge the student, while maintaining a light and enjoyable environment with room for the student’s personal expression. Alison definitely knows her musical structure and mechanics, as she continuously helps the student grow in technique and ability, but at the same time (and quite naturally and effortlessly), she encourages the student to enjoy the music, allowing the songs to come alive, especially via duets. Alison displays a wonderful maturity and approach, not only to piano and music, but to the student’s overall experience of learning. She is indeed one of those fabulous teachers we all wish we had, or perhaps used to have; a teacher who truly knows her subject matter, but also one who’s in touch with the heart of the matter. I am thankful and honored to have my daughter learning piano with Alison, and would highly recommend her for any teaching role, piano lessons included. Thank you Alison, for all you do!+ Read More
We love Alison! She is so positive and encouraging. My son loves going to lessons. He is progressing rapidly!
Alison is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is extremely patient and caring, yet also sets expectations for her classroom. Alison cares about each of her students and really wants to see them succeed, in turn making the students want to achieve for her. She is extremely personable and creates a warm environment to learn in. She also sets reasonable goals and facilitates learning in a structured yet challenging way, causing great growth. Alison is always available, ready and willing to take extra time out of her day to help her students in whatever way she can. I would highly recommend her as a teacher; she makes you want to be the best version of yourself.+ Read More
Alison was the perfect teacher for our 7-year-old son, Jesse. She brought creativity, fun, and patience to every lesson, and our son's knowledge and proficiency at piano far exceeds my expectations after only 6 months. I would recommend Alison as a teacher for anyone at any level. She's professional, thoughtful of time, and her own playing is just exquisite.+ Read More
