Music has always been a very significant part of my life. I began taking piano lessons at age seven and grew up listening to and playing classical music. As I started to grow older, the piano began to become such a large part of my identity and a way for me to express my emotions and creativity. My goal is to share and instill this love of music with others! My educational background includes an MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. During my time here, I completed an internship at Westminster Conservatory, teaching group piano classes. Upon graduating, I was offered a position as artist faculty and continued to teach private and group classes at the Conservatory. I also hold a BM in Piano Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy from the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam. During my time at Crane, I was enrolled in several piano pedagogy practicum classes where I was able to work with both children and adult students, focusing on beginning-intermediate repertoire. ***Lesson Details**** A working piano/keyboard is required. Electronic keyboards should be full-size with weighted keys. Lessons are tailored to fit the age and level of each student. For beginning students, I start them off in method books that focus on performance, technique, and theory. Students are gradually introduced to musical concepts that will help to build a solid foundation and understanding. I work to reinforce these concepts during each lesson to ensure that they are retained. I believe that all students should be introduced to classical music, but I am happy to teach other styles as well. ***Cancellation Policy*** I ask that students give at least 24-hours notice in the event that they need to cancel. No makeups will be given for no-shows or cancellations with less than 24-hours notice. However, in the case of emergencies, exceptions will be given.

I'm an adult returning to the piano after 35 years and Alex has been very patient and encouraging and suggested good books to work from. She's responsive to messages and always prompt! I feel frustrated at times that I used to play well and am now starting again from scratch but she is encouraging! After my initial set of 5 lessons I am signing up for more with her :)
