Hi future students! My name is Alexandra, but I go by Miss Lexie! After taking lessons myself from ages 3-17 then continuing my training all the way into my adult life, I feel as though I’ve found the most engaging and dynamic way to teach my students! I teach all styles, but pride myself on using song study to keep students excited and involved. My students pick the songs they work on! It can be anything from pop to classical. We spend weeks dissecting it and applying concepts and techniques through the music you love! I make my student’s excitement, comfortability, and creativity as a priority! And I always want my students to walk away from my lessons excited about making music and looking forward to the next one. Also, growing up with 2 brothers with disabilities, both being musicians themselves, I have observed and learned the best way for students with disabilities to find lessons an enriching and fulfilling experience. I love my students with disabilities and pride myself on tolerance, patience, and an individualized approach with all of my students!

Ms. Lexie is an amazing vocalist and instructor. I love working with her. She is very kind, encouraging and makes each lesson fun! She is very helpful in giving me tips on improving my vocal technique and with my songwriting. I highly recommend working with her, it's been a great music experience learning from her.

    Experience

    Music Teacher

    Jan, 2019 - Present

Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts

At my current job, I am teaching music full time. This means creating lessons plans for private, semi-private, and group lessons and ensuring my students are getting the best of the best training! I have roughly 40 guitar, piano, and voice students that are progressing at a rapid rate. I pride myself on the way I keep my students engaged through a modernized, functional approach, while still keeping technical training an important part of our lessons. I prepare students for recitals regularly, teaching them performance etiquette and how to shine on and off stage!

    Music Teacher

    Aug, 2018 - Jan, 2019

    Creative Soul Music School

After graduating from Ohio University in the fall of 2018, I relocated to Texas to begin teaching music full-time! Here, I had guitar, piano, and voice students of all experience levels. It was an incredible introduction to the formal world of teaching music!

    Music Director

    Aug, 2016 - May, 2018

    The Tempo Tantrums

In college, I directed an all-female acapella group of 15-20 women for 2 years. Through this, I learned an immense amount about individualizing teaching styles and working with different personalities and levels of experience. I also learned how to cultivate a productive teaching environment with more than just 1 student needing your attention. Being music director meant all musical responsibilities fell on my shoulders. I had to choose arrangements, teach them to varying experience levels, and make them performance-ready on a short timeline. It was incredibly challenging, but a great push for me to strengthen my leadership foundation and grow my musical knowledge in a big way!
