My musical training spans many years from the Southern
California Conservatory of Music to the Grove School of Music in Van Nuys, CA. Early on, I developed a passion for sharing my musical knowledge in addition to playing.
In addition to teaching piano and guitar I also have taught
bass, drums, percussion, harmony, theory, guitar combos and rock bands. I strongly believe that music must be fun to learn, practice, perform, and write. A solid foundation in music fundamentals is rudimentary to becoming a competent musician whether for fun or professionally.
My teaching experience covers all ages from toddlers to
adults both privately and in various group sizes.
I recognize that each student has unique abilities, experiences, and interests that are integral to a successful experience with any subject they are learning.
*** Lesson Details ***
I teach to the student's interests and help them realize their musical goals. I am non-traditional in my approach in that I encourage creativity and the love of playing music over reading notation. In other words I do not use a reading centered approach to learning music. I will help you with developing a strong reading ability but not at the expense of, or instead of, playing and creating music that you enjoy. I help my students learn all necessary fundamentals of music so that you can play anything you want such as classical, blues, jazz, rock, pop, you name it. In essence you will be focused on playing music that you like from the start.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have all the necessary equipment and instruments for lessons at my studio.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide books if necessary. Student should have a usable and tuned instrument to practice at home.
*** Specialties ***
I help the student cultivate and expand on their innate musical abilities.
