In 2018 I moved to the Peterborough, NH area and am offering private piano lessons here. For most of my professional career I have been creating music and sound for educational computer games and toys for major companies. Prior to my move, I taught private piano lessons to children and adults in the Buffalo, NY area for eight years. Some of my students have gone on to win awards and continue in a musical career. We will always be preparing for successful performances of selections from classic to modern repertoire. My approach is student focused. I adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. I maximize the student's strengths and interests to inspire each student to fulfill their unique potential. Lessons will include: 1. proper body and hand posture, 2. exercises and scales, 3. at least three pieces from the literature, 4. analysis and historical context for each piece, 5. development of techniques and artistic expression, 6. music theory and history, 7. preparation for performance and, if appropriate, competitions. Benefits of studying music: Enjoyment of social and cultural gatherings Appreciation of art, history, and culture Development of good study habits Strengthening of math and language skills Emotional and spiritual fulfillment. More about me: As a contractor and as an employee, I have written music and did sound design for Rosetta Stone, Fisher-Price, Rochester Science Museum, Fujitsu, Broderbund Software, and others. I have taught music subjects in colleges and universities. I continue to pursue projects for media and live performance. I earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stanford University in composition and computer music. I hold a Master in Arts degree from the same university. I received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music, in piano and composition. I started my musical training in the pre-college program at the famous Manhattan School of Music, studying piano and composition. I look forward to helping you learn to the play music on the piano.

Alex is an outstanding piano teacher. He can teach all levels. He plays tremendously himself. And he can teach you more than just the basics. While you are learning pieces, he will also teach you music theory, arrangement, composition and more.

I took lessons from Alex as an adult. He's great. And I was impressed watching him work with younger students. They really respond well to Alex.
