Hi! My name is Alan. I'm a 24 year old guitar teacher living in Northern California. I recently graduated from New York University's prestigious Gallatin School. 

I studied and majored in music and it's role in building communities. I have been living and breathing music since I was 13 years old - I've played in many ensembles, taught many students, and listened to way too much music. I love sharing new music with people, and I especially love giving people the ability to play music.

I cannot even begin to explain how much of an impact Alan had on not only my guitar playing ability, but also my approach to music and life in general. His free spirit is infectious and made learning a joy. I worked with him for a year and a half when I first moved to NY for school, and ended our experience with a confidence and skill level I had not previously thought possible. Before our lessons I never had success with music; I had a tendency to get frustrated with myself and quit very easily. He taught me that playing an instrument is not something that needs to be perfect. Even during our first sessions just learning the basics he showed that music comes from the heart and any mistakes aren't wrong, they are a sign of growth and sound beautiful in their own right. Although I am so sad that he left New York, I am also joyful that he can bring his music and teaching ability to the Bay Area. I can't recommend him enough! Five-year-old, eighty-year-old, anyone, he will bring a sense of musical freedom and joy to your life.

Hired Alan to teach my son Mark how to play the guitar. I played when I was younger, but definitely not well enough to teach! Alan was patient, energetic, and downright fun! Mark was never bored and engaged with the material Alan presented. The lessons were well balanced between necessary essentials, theory, and introducing mark to great new music (as well as teaching him the music that he already enjoys).

 Though Alan has sadly moved away from New York now, Mark is still playing daily, in no small part due to Alan's influence! He has improved greatly and I am thankful for Alan's inspiring instruction!
