I teach piano to students from beginners through college levels. My lessons include basic musicianship and theory, technique, and a wide variety of repertoire. I spend lesson time helping students learn *how* to practice, so they can best use the six days between lessons.

About Adrienne M.

Hello! I've been teaching piano and horn for more than 30 years, and am so happy to be able to offer lessons online via TakeLessons. My students have ranged in age from 4 through adults, and I enjoy teaching beginners as well as elementary, intermediate- and college-prep level students.

In lessons, I will work with you to help you develop your individual talents. It is my goal to give you the tools you need to be an independent learner, able to read and play music from the page, as well as to improvise and even compose if that is your interest. I have flexibility for lesson times in my schedule, as this is my full-time career.

Adrienne loves teaching piano to kids. Her enthusiasm is contagious. She inspired my daughter to learn and to excel in piano. Learning becomes a fun activity filled with creative energies. She is one of the best piano teachers for kids I've ever know. I'll recommend her to anyone seriously interested in getting their kids on the road of learning piano but do not want them to be burdened with the heaviness of learning.

Classical training

Ms. McKinney is a very competent teacher who has helped my children become proficient pianists. All eight of my children have received a classical music education with emphasis on proper technique, music theory, and musicianship. They have been instructed in all areas of classical music and have develop their skills through the playing of a large range of repertoire. Ms. McKinney is very good at listening to each child and working with their individual strengths and weaknesses. She is adept at adapting the lessons to fit the needs of each child. She is able to work with children of all ages and abilities. I would highly recommend her as a piano teacher.

I have been teaching piano to children and adults for over 24 years. I have degrees in piano performance and K-12 music education. In order to continue developing as an independent music teacher, I attend workshops and conventions, participate in local music associations, and continually work to improve my own musicianship. I feel that doing these things help keep my teaching fresh and inspired.
